National Carers Week

NATIONAL CARERS WEEK – 5th – 11th June

Carers Week is an annual campaign to raise awareness of caring, highlight the challenges unpaid carers face and recognise the contribution they make to families and communities throughout the UK. It also helps people who don't think of themselves as having caring responsibilities to identify as carers and access much-needed support. Carers can be anyone of any age and the UK has many young carers as well as adult carers.

Many carers often go about their caring responsibilities quietly and rarely draw attention to the work they do. They can include neighbours, colleagues and sometimes even friends

During this week, we want to take this opportunity to recognise the invaluable role carers play in our local communities. Their dedication and compassion are second to none, and we want to let carers of all ages know - The Haven is here for you.

Here at The Haven, our multidisciplinary team comprising of Specialist Nurses, Child & Family Co-ordinators, and Wellbeing Practitioners can support carers to manage the physical and emotional impact of their caring responsibilities; to look after their own health and wellbeing, and to access short breaks from caring. The Haven also provides pre and post-bereavement support for carers.

We spoke with one of our clients, and they told us how accessing support from The Haven has significantly helped them in their role as a carer:

“Being aware that the Nurse support sessions were in confidence and totally independent enabled me to release my emotions, as I was not able to share with others how I was feeling. When I'm feeling anxious, I use the breathing techniques I was shown - they help calm, relax, and still my busy mind. Knowing I have these tools if I need them makes all the difference”.

The Haven is here for carers every step of the way.

To arrange support for you and your family, please contact us during opening hours: Monday-Thursday, 10am-4pm or Friday 10am-1pm by calling 01555 811846 or emailing: info@thehavencentre.com.

Let’s face the future together.
