Easter arrives early thanks to donations from Blantyre businesses

Local charity, The Haven is pleased to announce that Joseph Potts Funeral Directors and Smiths Funeral Directors in Blantyre has generously donated a selection of Easter Eggs which will be distributed to local young people and families who receive support from the Children, Young People and Family (CYP) Service.

The free CYP Service helps children and young people to feel resilient, strong and empowered to understand their own emotions, and to be confident enough to share the natural feelings of loss or grief when someone they care about is seriously ill, or has died.

Both funeral directors have been supporting families for over 15 years and arrange bespoke, personal funeral services with kindness, compassion, dignity and respect when a loved one has passed away.

Children and Young People Support Worker, Erin Trainer, recently met with Lisa Watson from Smiths Funeral Directors and Charles Grant & Helen Scott from Joseph Potts Funeral Directors, who very kindly presented The Haven with an ‘eggscellent’ number of Easter Eggs, which will be gifted to local young people and children across Lanarkshire and will help make this Easter one to remember.

Charles said: “Joseph Potts and Smiths have done this appeal for many years and have had great success. We donate to many charities across the Blantyre area as well as care homes, hospices and nurseries.

The Haven offers great support and help to families and is one of the first charities we always think of when carrying out this appeal. We are glad we can support this charity with our appeal and hope the Easter eggs put a smile on some of the kids’ faces. We hope to continue our support to The Haven in the future and we thank everyone associated with the charity for all the work they do to provide support”.

The Haven expresses sincere thanks to the team at Joseph Potts Funeral Directors and Smiths Funeral Directors for their kindness, generosity and continuous support.

There are some exciting new changes to the CYP service, as The Haven’s Blantyre Centre has been recently updated with new and suitable furniture, furnishings and resources – meaning services can now be offered both digitally and in-person for children and young people by pre-booked appointments.
