Facing the future together with hope

New Children and Young People’s Service in development for the Clydesdale Community

We are delighted to announce that we are expanding our successful Children and Young People’s Service to our Forth

Becky Rawlinson, Children and Young People's Service Co-ordinator

Taster sessions will be running throughout the summer holidays and will be the first stage of piloting the Children and Young People’s Service from our centre in Forth, giving families in the local area an insight into what the service will look like and will allow the service to be developed in line with the needs of the local Clydesdale area.

The service has been running for almost 17 years in Blantyre and does so much good work to support children and young people that the long term aim will be for this to be an established service in the Clydesdale Community.

All the children and young people are therefore experiencing loss and grief. Children coping with the complex emotions associated with this can experience barriers which disadvantage them and which can prevent them achieving their full potential.

Children and young people affected by loss and grief may find it difficult to cope positively with feelings of loneliness, anxiety, stress, worry and anger. If unaddressed, this can lead to low self-esteem and loss of confidence and can negatively impact on a young person's ability to make positive life choices.

This is an exciting step in the development of the Children and Young People’s Service coming to Clydesdale. It is important for us to take this time over the coming weeks and months to engage with families in the local community to get an idea of how the existing Haven service can be tailored to make sure we are delivering what this community needs.

The taster sessions we are running throughout the summer will be a really good way for families to come and get a feel for The Haven and find out more about what the service will hope to offer. I would encourage anyone who is interested in coming along to get in touch to book their space on one of our six taster sessions.

The taster sessions will run every Wednesday from the 3rd July until the 7th August from 2pm – 3pm. Spaces are limited so to book a place on one of these sessions, or to find out more information, please call The Haven Forth on 01555 811846 or email forth@thehavencentre.com
