Wellbeing Support Services
The Haven is still here to support you during this challenging time of the covid-19 crisis.
In response to the impact of covid-19 we have changed our service delivery methods to ensure support continues for our vulnerable clients while all three Haven drop in centres are closed in line with government advice.
Haven support services continue to be available with our Haven Nurses and Children, Young People and Families Service Co-ordinator from Monday to Friday between 10am and 4pm.
Support is now available through:
- Telephone support calls and email support.
- Video support calls.
- Wellbeing Toolkits
- A range of digital downloads and self management resources.
All of our new Wellbeing Support Services are delivered with the same underlying principles and ethos as our previous centre based services. Our Haven Nurses and Children, Young People and Families Service Co-ordinator actively support clients to navigate and manage their illness and/or caring roles within this new and challenging environment by: supporting clients and their families and carers to live life positively with hope; by providing information and support at all stages of illness; and by offering pre and post bereavement support for families.
All Haven support is specifically tailored to each individual, based on our ‘What’s Important Now’ (WIN) approach which helps our clients identify their own goals and empowers and supports them to take positive steps to achieve these goals. 1:1 Haven support sessions, signposting/referrals and links to wider statutory and community resources all aim to increase emotional and mental wellbeing, increase self-management skills, build resilience and, very importantly, reduce the impact of loneliness and isolation.
We are continually reviewing and further developing services and will introduce new services to meet clients needs as soon as we are able to do so.
Service Delivery Team
Our Wellbeing Support Services are delivered by our experienced multidisciplinary team of Haven Nurses and Children, Young People and Families Service Co-ordinator.
Our Haven nurses have specialist expertise and provide emotional support as well as information on all aspects of the client’s illness, treatment and care and are there to support throughout all stages of the illness. The nurse will remain as their key person of contact, ensuring continuity of care and support for as long as required.
Our Children, Young People and Families Service Co-ordinator helps to support children and young people to feel resilient and strong, enabling them to understand their own emotions and to be confident enough to share the natural feelings of loss when someone they care about is seriously ill or has died.
