We recently held our annual Spring Fayre at The Haven centre in Forth to welcome members of the local Clydesdale community in to the centre.
We are incredibly proud and honored to be one of the first local charities to benefit from the innovative pilot scheme ‘Recycle and Reward’ which is running in Blantyre’s Family Shopper store.
The scheme, which offers customers money back for recycling empty bottles and cans, has so far generated a massive £180 for The Haven. This is part of a trial that Family Shopper owner, Mo Razzaq, has set up in concern Scottish Government’s Deposit Return Scheme, which aims to encourage people to recycle more and limit the amount of used drinks containers going to landfill. This is expected to be launched nationally late 2020.
We are so excited to share with you that we are set for a record breaking Kiltwalk fundraising year.
We are delighted to announce that the Glasgow Kiltwalk 2019 is our biggest and most successful walk to date with members of Team Haven walking the miles for the charity and raising over £39,000 so far with sponsorship still coming in.
We were incredibly privileged to have a recent visit from South Lanarkshire Provost Ian McAllan.
The Provost who plays a very important ambassadorial role on behalf of the council, representing South Lanarkshire at many civic occasions and works closely with community and voluntary sector groups, was warmly welcomed to The Haven, where he enjoyed a tour of both the Blantyre and the Forth centres and had the opportunity to learn about the expansive free programme of support and services available to those affected by life limiting illness in the local community.
We are aiming to take our biggest team ever to the Glasgow Kiltwalk and nurse Donna Martin couldn’t be happier to be a part of this.
Joining around 100 Team Haven walkers, Haven nurse Donna feels it is important to represent the charity, as she knows first-hand the true benefits of the funds The Haven are able to raise by taking part in one of Scotland’s highest profile charity events, the Kiltwalk.
