Bank of Scotland Great Scottish Run Half Marathon and 10k - 2012 at The Haven Centre

Great Scottish Run Half Marathon and 10k - 2012

Be part of it!

Take your place on the start line with over 23,000 runners, joggers and walkers on Sunday 2 September 2012.

The Haven is looking for people to join our team for the Great Scottish Run 2012. Take part in either the half marathon or 10k event and join thousands of runners, joggers and walkers from around the world. Join our team and help us raise much needed funds for The Haven.

More than 23,000 people took part in the event last year making it Scotland’s largest mass participation sporting event. The race takes place in the cosmopolitan city of Glasgow. It is renowned for its fast course, atmosphere and scenic route through some of Glasgow’s beauty spots.

Starting in the heart of Glasgow at George Square, participants cross the famous Kingston Bridge and pass through some of Glasgow's most famous attractions before finishing at Glasgow Green, the city's oldest park on the banks of the Clyde.

The Great Scottish Run has something for everyone, whether you’re a half marathon veteran or setting out on your very first race, you can walk, jog or run so why not join our team in 2012?

In return for pledging to raise money for The Haven, we will support you by providing you with:

a Haven T-shirt

a welcome pack full of fundraising and training advice

Please note that you will need to secure your place in the event with the race organisers before joining The Haven's Team.

Fundraising

Social networks

Remember, it’s your network of friends, family, colleagues and contacts that will support you with your training and fundraising. Remember to keep them updated every step of the way with your Facebook profile, blog or Twitter account.

Tell them how your training is going (with pictures for added impact) and let them know how you’re getting on with your fundraising target. You can even upload pictures on the day to show everyone your progress along the route! If you follow The Haven on Facebook we will keep you up to date with the goings-on here, and keep you on track with support and tips.

Online fundraising makes it so easy!

Now you can raise sponsorship without all the hassle. No more dealing with cash and cheques, no more chasing friends after the event. Simply create a free, online fundraising page, personalise it with a photo and message, and email it to your friends, family and work colleagues. They can donate quickly and securely online with a credit or debit card. Online donations from UK taxpayers are worth almost a third more to us with Gift Aid, which can be claimed on online donations. Follow the instructions to set up your unique JustGiving page

Textgiving

You can also raise funds by text and we recommend you sign up to JustTextGiving and follow their easy step by step guide to create your very own Text fundraising code.

Once you’ve created your page and text code, email the links to friends, family, colleagues and classmates. You can even add the JustGiving applications to your Facebook page to make it even easier for your friends to donate.

For more information or help setting up your page, visit www.justgiving.com or call the Justgiving helpdesk on 0845 021 2110.

Please note: Justgiving money will only be attributed to the person who set up the Justgiving page, so please do not set up joint pages as we are unable to share the money between several people.

How do I pay in my sponsorship?

There are a few ways in which your sponsorship money can reach us:

JustGiving

If you have decided to create a Justgiving fundraising page, then you do not need to do anything as all your sponsorship money will automatically be sent directly to our bank account. Please note that it can take up to four weeks to show up on your fundraising record at The Haven.

Cheque

Please send all cheques to the address below:

The Haven Centre, Blantyre Health Centre, Blantyre, G72 0BS

Don’t forget to write your name, your unique Haven fundraising reference number and event name on the back of your cheques and please enclose copies of your completed sponsorship forms to enable us to claim any Gift Aid.

Online

You can also pay money in directly on The Haven website if you use our online paying in function then please remember to send us your sponsorship forms so that we can claim Gift Aid.

Enclosed in your welcome pack, which you will receive from us when you inform us of your race registration number for your event, will be your pay-in forms. You can send them to us along with your sponsorship money payment and sponsorship forms. Please do not send cash in the post.

We would greatly appreciate if all sponsorship monies could be collected and returned to The Haven by 30th November  2012.

 Thank you for your support!
